The novel was too wordy, couldn't get through it, but the movie is outstanding! Thrilling, dark, violent, Norwegian: yes!

French spy thriller dramatizing the events that lead up to the fall of the Soviet Union. HIstorically accurate? Perhaps not. Entertaining? absolutely.

French / Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung (The Scent of Green Papaya) adapts Haruki Murakami's novel about love, sex, loss, and insanity, set in 1960s Japan. Long, but beautiful cinematic romantic drama.
