Oorlogswinter: beautifully photographed Dutch WWII drama about a family coping with the German occupation and a wounded British pilot. Love it!

http://www.sonyclassics.com/incendies/ Award winning beautiful but long family drama from Danish director Susanne Bier on the topics of fatherhood, responsibility, violence, revenge and forgiveness. Outstanding acting, music, cinematography and performances.

This film has it all; story with depth, beauty, 1930's Shanghai gangsters, great performances. If you're unfamiliar with the work of Yimou Zhang Shanghai Triad is a great place to start!

What a mess... Engaging, violent story of two brothers and a nation torn apart by war. Lots of horrific battle scenes. Too many cuts, but one of best, if not the only film I've seen on the subject.

There's a few laughs. Michel Gondry succeeds in elevating the script above the average bromance humor action film. Sony did the rest: over 230 million worldwide.

(All male, by the way. Thanks guys...)

A lovely work of art. It's refreshing to watch a film without dialogue or close-ups, true to Tati in style, and only 80 minutes long.

Beautifully photographed period piece that delivers fine acting, solid well-balanced story, and lots of lovely wood and scenery.
