Have you ever started watching a DVD and wonder: how the heck did this get in my queue? Halfway through this disaster I realized why: James Ellroy wrote it. Street Kings is no L.A Confidential (or Training Day.)
So many things wrong with this film, it's not even worth the time to complain. The last 60 seconds are the entertaining... Coming of age on the Mississippi River tale from writer/director Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter.) I don't love the steadicam, but yes yes yes: loved it!
http://mud-themovie.com/ I barely remember Capote, and I'm sure it's good, but this Truman Capote In Cold Blood biopic features his New York City socialite friends, and a romance with Daniel Craig: yes!
Christoph Waltz has replaced Uma Thurman as Quintin Tararntino's muse. Violent revenge romancer that's too long, but Jamie Fox is completely bad ass, and it's so campy and over the top I forgive Harvey & company. Nobody can borrow from old films like Tarantino.
Huge hit in France, (probably soon to be remade by Hollywood) starring the incredibly charismatic Omar Sy. Awkward social situation, but funny, and touching: yes.
http://weinsteinco.com/sites/the-intouchables/# Awful, long. Unless you're obsessed with Joaquin Phoenix, and/or Philip Seymour Hoffman: skip it.
Violent, Showtime, family / gangster / political drama, set in Providence, Rhode Island, which lasted three seasons. The writing, acting, characters and performances: outstanding. Loved it.
Funny telenovela spoof. I love Will Ferrell, Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal, so yes, see it.
