BOY

7/13/2013

Taika Waititi's sweet coming of age dramedy, set in 1984, about a motherless impoverished New Zealand child coping with the return of his absentee / recently paroled father. Beautiful, loved it, but not subtitled and the accents are charming, but dense: put your headphones on for this one!

FRANKENWEENIE

Yes, you should see it: it's great!

KLOWN

9/30/2012

Hollywood is SO going to remake this hilarious social comedy about two men, a boy, and the women in their wake on a canoe trip / "tour de pussy".  Danish TV stars Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam spin-off their TV show, and team-up to write, and star in this future Danny McBride vehicle.

As a parent of a child who just booked her first theatrical (extra) job, this documentary about young Hollywood hopefuls' is particularly relevant. Explains the frenzy surrounding pilot season. Great characters. Inside look at kids, and the adults who both help them and prey on their dreams of stardom.

Adorable Japanese animated film suitable for young kids and adult too. A treasure in frequent play here at our home! No other animated film has captured the attention of our two year-old.

YOGI BEAR

Since I didn't (couldn't) watch it, here's my six year-old's "review" of Yogi Bear. "It's very funny, and I liked it! Yogi and Boo Boo are funny too."
