Vera Farmiga found the perfect script to star and direct. She's awesome in this adaptation of a novel about a woman's faith and family. She should find a film to co-star with Ryan Gosling.... Together they would kill!
http://www.sonyclassics.com/higherground/ Errol Morris (The Fog of War) specializes in subject driven documentaries. A self-absorbed "beauty" becomes obsessed with an average Mormon dude, and a media frenzy ensues. Kinky.

Earth dramatizes the 1947 cataclysmic split of India into two nations, and Water shares the suffering of an eight year-old widow in the same era. Known as the Elements Trilogy, these three films examine social issues and taboo topics.
Ludivine Sagnier (The Devil's Double,) Kristin Scott Thomas: love them both in this suspenseful French pysch thriller. A remake is already in the works; DePalma: Passion.
Kathryn Bigelow launches her career and partners with Monty Montgomery (where is he now?) to introduce Willem Dafoe as a bad ass biker straight out of the clink. Who's more civilized: the gang of leather clad ne'er-do-wells, or the small town folks they annoy? The film looks cool (late 1950s) features the adorable Marin Kanter, great, bikes, cars, art, but... Good first film, not great.
Helen Mirren and Ben Whishaw in an incredibly cool Shakespearean film. Loved it.
http://tempest-themovie.com/ Based on the novel, Chanda's Secrets, this heartfelt drama illustrates the AIDS pandemic's impact on a humble South African family, and possibly an entire continent. Sad, but not brutal.
Official Site: http://www.sonyclassics.com/lifeaboveall/ Loved the tough Mom's story but the pay-off seems hard to fathom. It's long, too. Great performance by Lubna Azabal. Two tracks from Radiohead. Why the giant red titles?
http://www.sonyclassics.com/incendies/ Great short pulp fiction novel set 1950 New York City. Can't wait to see what Todd Haynes and Julianne Moore do with this one!
